How It Works

Mafia Blitz is a 10-15 minute choose-your-role social deduction game for 6–12 players. Instead of being randomly dealt a role, players draft their roles through a draw 2, pick 1 system.

1) Draft

One player is the Vigilante, a public role. He wants The Rat safe. Everyone else drafts a secret role, each with their own goal.

2) Discussion

Accusations fly. The Rat? Some want him dead, some want him alive. Others have their an agenda to fulfill (like getting shot!)

3) Shooting

The Vigilante must choose their suspects and fire. Any surviving Goons reveal and point at someone, hoping it's the Rat.

4) The Reveal

All roles are revealed and win conditions are checked. Arguments inevitable ensures. You will want to play again to settle grudges.

Meet the Cast

Vigilante

The only public role. Your job is to find the Goons and make sure the Rat doesn't get shot.

Rat

You don't want to get shot. Convince the Vigilante you're not a target, and keep the Goons guessing too.

Fed

You win if the Rat survives. Use truth, lies, or impersonation. Whatever it takes to keep the Rat safe.

Goon

You win if the Rat gets shot. Survive the Vigilante's fire and you get one chance to find the Rat. Make it count.

Muscle

Wants the Rat shot but carries no gun. No risk, no filter. Which means everyone else will pretend to be you.

Civilian

Don't get shot. If you do, the shooter loses too. Everyone will claim to be you, so good luck proving it.

Mouthpiece

You want to get shot. Draw attention without being obvious about it. Fraud wasn't built in a day.

Stranger

After the draft, one card sits in the middle. You swap your card for it and find out who you really are.

Since everyone knows something, everyone gets to contribute to the discussion. The poor Vigilante has to sort through all the deception and try to find the bad guys. Honestly, this was so much fun, I can't imagine going back to One Night when this is available.

Fresh Take on a Familiar Game

I prefer Mafia Blitz to the original because it is much faster and everyone at the table stays involved throughout. If you know how to play Mafia, you'll slip right into this streamlined version. Once the Vigilante makes a decision, the reveals are a good time as well.
